Traits of a Good Employee

There are a lot of different standards and traits on how to assess a good employee. And still, all these will end up with the basics. The traits of a good employee can be innate or acquired. Usually, these acquired positive attitudes are born of the needs in the workplace. However, the basic traits will just evolve and spring new ones when a person starts working.

A good employee is a responsible employee. He or she knows his or her job and does it with utmost proficiency and efficiency. Being responsible does not mean to only mean doing and accomplishing your job, but it also requires excellence.

Being a good team leader and a follower at the same time is also a trait of a good employee. You know how to lead and direct your teammates to success. Furthermore, you have to learn to follow directions and rules when you become a member of a team. These traits may be hard to have or acquire but this also requires patience and critical-thinking  skills.

Trust is also needed in achieving a good employee status. Most of the time, this will be broken when you spread gossips inside the workplace. Furthermore, protect your company by not sharing confidential files, information, and accounts to others. It is also best to keep everything to yourself. This will save you from becoming a company’s problem at the end.

Good interpersonal relationship is also needed for you to become a good employee. This means that you create a good relationship with everybody in your workplace; from the front-desk officer to the accounting staff and most especially your boss. However, do not shove it too much that you try hard to be friends with everybody.

You must also exercise punctuality and be civil in the workplace. This is a good trait, especially in not making a scene in the workplace. You must be mature enough to handle things in a civil manner and not create a fuss in the workplace. Furthermore be, ahead of time. Being late often leads to a connotation that you do not take your job seriously.

As a good employee you are also expected to be part of the daily activities of the office. This may be important meetings, unannounced events, and even birthday parties. Others may think that these are lame and boring activities. However, nonetheless, a good employee always tries his or her best to be part in the ups and downs of the company and even to his or her colleagues.
